Using first-person stories from Not Far from Me: Stories of Opioids and Ohio, the materials on this website are designed to help community members facilitate in-depth community discussions to encourage critical, historically-informed dialogue around opioid use, with the aim of reducing stigma.
An epidemic is not an abstraction; it arises in particular places—from homes, to institutions, and both physical and figurative spaces.
The opioid epidemic provides us with an opportunity to have productive conversations about what we have personally and collectively lost.
The unifying question of these conversations is: How did we get here?
Since beginning to come to terms with the effects of widespread opioid addiction, many Ohioans have set about devising new resources and networks.
What assumptions lead us to place blame on individuals, communities, or regions? How do these assumptions limit opportunities for recovery?
