Community Impact Coalition resumes battle against opioids

OHIO COUNTY, W.Va. — For the first time since early 2020, the Community Impact Coalition in Ohio County met in person to assess where the community and the opioid epidemic stand in a post-pandemic world.

“We have seen a big increase in overdose rates, as well as people trying to access treatment during COVID,” Coordinator Marisa Scott said. “I know at the beginning of COVID, a lot places closed their doors and wouldn't bring in people because of the risk of spreading the disease.”
