Lucas County awarded $1M grant for Opioid Response Initiative

TOLEDO, Ohio — A $1 million grant from the state hopes to help curb opioid-related deaths in minority communities.

The funds will go to multiple partners including New Concepts, a faith-based outpatient program aimed at serving everyone in the community.

"We're seeing a tremendous growth in the number of opioid-related deaths in minority communities," said Scott Sylak, executive director of the Mental Health & Recovery Services Board of Lucas County.
