Overdoses on the rise, fatalities decline

NORWALK — The Huron County Board of Mental Health and Addiction Services, the year-to-date overdose numbers isn't all bad news for the community.

While instances of overdose continue to plague the community and maintain an upward trajectory, the silver lining is the total number of overdose fatalities is dropping in spite of that increase.

According to Ashley Morrow, community engagement and resource manager for the addiction services agency, overdoses in Huron County have risen from 100 in 2020 to 126 in 2021. So far, there have been 132 overdoses as of Oct. 28.
