Stark County communities say yes to opioid settlement

CANTON – Stark County commissioners are joining other local subdivisions in a statewide settlement of claims against three distributors of opioid drugs that could lead to payments totaling about $16 million to the county's governments over 18 years.

According to a summary posted by the state and attorneys representing local governments, at least 95% of Ohio's local governments that joined the legal action must agree to drop their claims against the three companies in state and federal courts in order for it to take effect. Governments could start receiving payments by the end of this year.
