Stark County Health Department uses mapping technology to address opioid epidemic

The Stark County Health Department has taken a new approach to addressing the opioid epidemic by using mapping software to improve its community outreach.

The agency is using a geographic information system (GIS) to pinpoint areas in the county hit hardest by opioids, as well as identify gaps in treatment providers. The program is meant to help the health agency more effectively respond to incidents and place prevention and outreach resources in the areas that need them most.
