Study involving UC could help ID genetic markers for opioid addiction


What if a doctor knew you were predisposed to opioid addiction? What if, then, the doctor could figure out a medical plan that would ease your pain without prescription painkillers?

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost is betting that kind of knowledge would prevent some people from developing opioid use disorder in Ohio. On Thursday, he announced research conducted through his office's Scientific Committee on Opioid Prevention and Education that is trying to find genetic markers for the addiction disorder.
